In this series, we will cover everything from basic to advanced PHP 5 and MySQL 5 topics. We will start with defining and using variables. Then move to control structures and functions. From there, we will cover how to interact with a MySQL database, how to use the MySQL within PHP, and then PHP 5 classes. To wrap up the series, we will touch on some of the more advanced PHP topics.

2 - Introduction to Server Installation (Running Time - 4:58)

Here Loren will not be telling you exactly how to set up and configure PHP, MySQL, and Apache, but he will cover where to get the files and talk about WAMP, a preconfigured solution.

One of the most important things in any language is how you control the logic of the code. This video will cover the syntax of the if stament. It will also show how to use the else, and cascading if staments. It will do this by using a form to pass information, and the code will output results.

Loops and Their Uses (Running Time - 15:07)
The ability to run the same code over and over again can be very useful. For that reason, in this video we are covering loops. Specifically the for loop and the while loop, and we also cover interacting arrays and loops. To top it off, we build a 100-100 multiplication table, in under 10 lines of code.
9 - Functions Defined (Running Time - 15:31)
It is very common to use the same piece of code multiple times on a page. Functions help elevate the need for rewriting, reparsing, and multiple alterations. In this video, we go over how to use function, and how to create functions. We also review the php documentation on how it defines functions.
10 - Scope, Globals, and Review (Running Time - 14:36)
Scope is very important, and I am not talking about the mouth wash. Scope is where a variable can be accessed based on where it is defined. To that, global can change a variables scope. In this video we go over scope, defining a global, and using global variables. So in review, we create a simple calculator.

Formatting text in Dreamweaver is just as easy as using a word processor. In this video, Craig will show you the basics of text formatting as well as what’s going on behind the scenes.

MySQL Part 1 (Running Time - 20:22)
What good would it do to have information, if you could not retrieve it and alter it. For that reason, we will now introduce the basics of mysql. In this video, we will create a simple contact information page. By doing this, we will cover how to retrieve, insert, edit, and delete information from a table in the database.
13 - MySQL Part 2 (Running Time - 16:06)
In this video, we build on the previous project. We add a second table with a foriegn key to the first. You will also learn how to order the listing and create a search function.
14 - Intro to Classes and Objects (Running Time - 14:06)
Classes and objects can be a very useful construct for separating codes functionality, but there are some drawbacks to using objects, mainly higher overhead for php. In this video, we will cover the basic syntax of objects, how to declare an objects members and methods, and what members and methods are.

In this video, we will go over some more useful classes. We will go over a simple custom database class. We will also build a small comments class, and with this class, we will implement comments in to a page in 3 lines of php.
16 -Advanced PHP Class Structure (Running Time - 11:05)
The most useful thing, in Object Oriented Programming, is class hierarchy. This allows for a separation of design and a fluid structure. In this video, we will be covering inheritance and interfaces. Inheritance is when one child class to inherent to its parent classes functionality. An interface will allow you to make multiple classes but let you know that you can access them all in the same way.
